Week 3 Challenge: Eat lots of produce! (5.14.12 – 5.20.12)
Our challenge this week is a little bit easier than the last ones I think. Our challenge is going to be to fill up half of our plates at each meal with fruits and veggies.
According to MyPlate, each of us should try to make ½ of each meal fruits and vegetables. This is important because these produce items have many nutrients our body needs. Try to eat the produce raw as much as possible because heat can destroy a lot of the beneficial nutrients. Juicing is another good option just keep in mind that a lot of nutrients oxidize rapidly upon contact with air so drink the juiced produce immediately! When you are picking out your fruits and veggies try to pick a large variety as different items have different nutrients.
